Pick your area of expertise. What do you know about the most? For some people, it can be cars, baseball, or manufacturing. For private coach/expert Duke Manyweather, who has trained multiple Dallas Cowboys starters, it's offensive line play.
And chances are he's got more than double the expertise that you and I do in our respective areas.
He's surrounded by some of the best talents in the world and eats offensive line play for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. When he goes to sleep, his dreams and nightmares are probably all about life in the trenches.
As a franchise, the Cowboys know this very well. Former and current players like La'el Collins, Tyler Smith, Terence Steele, Tyler Biadasz, and even under-the-radar guys like Isaac Alarcón have worked with "Big Duke."
So perhaps they should listen to him when he chimes in on their decision-making at the position. Especially if his stance is strong enough to call a decision "stupid."
That's what Manyweather thinks of the Cowboys' recent statements about allegedly looking at Terence Steele at guard.
The main idea behind moving Steele to guard would apparently be to let Tyler Smith and Tyron Smith take over at left tackle and right tackle respectively. After Steele's injury last season, Tyron played right tackle when he returned from injury.
In 2020, Mike McCarthy shot down the idea of moving Zack Martin from guard to tackle because it was "fantasy football nonsense."
Now the Cowboys appear eager to play fantasy football every time an opportunity to change an offensive lineman from position presents itself.
So what should the team's starting lineup be? Manyweather chimed in when asked by a follower on Twitter.
The proposed lineup by Duke is what the Cowboys were expected to use last year. Keep Tyron Smith as the starting left tackle, where he's had a Hall of Fame caliber career, and let Tyler stay inside in the meantime.
On the right side, Zack Martin remains the best in the NFL and Steele has shown consistent improvement over the years.
The offensive line questions are a reminder that the offensive line remains one of the top needs for the Cowboys and it's a very real possibility that the team addresses it in the NFL Draft.
