Another day, another DeAndre Hopkins update.
For weeks, Bills Mafia has been keeping a close eye on every new development with the All-Pro wide receiver. What started off as a simple IG story mentioning "Buffalo" has quickly warped into something unbelievable.
There is a very real possibility that Hopkins laces up his cleats to play with Josh Allen next season. However, one of the things potentially stopping that from happening would immediately frustrate the fanbase.
The Kansas City Chiefs, reportedly, are deep in conversations with the talented receiver. In fact, it was reported that Buffalo and Kansas City are not only in an "arms race" for Hopkins but that the two teams are the front-runners to land him.
Jeff Darlington discussed further on a segment for ESPN, "The Chiefs and the Bills are the two teams that we really should be watching."
Darlington continued, discussing why a trade just didn't make sense previously, "Some might wonder why one of those teams didn't just trade for Hopkins in the first place when Arizona made him available… Neither team could get to the point where they were going to give up trade assets, take on the contract that was on the table, and ultimately land him."
The segment concluded with a sure-fire statement that has both the Chiefs and Bills fanbase excited for more updates, "I would call them front runners for Hopkins' services at this point."
The Hopkins-to-Buffalo hype train reached a fever pitch after the Arizona Cardinals officially released him, allowing Hopkins to decide where he wants to play professional football moving forward. Hopkins has already stated his desire to play with Josh Allen and several Bills veterans have done their best to try and recruit the talented receiver.
It could be hours, days, or even weeks before we get a final resolution and see where Hopkins lands. There could be a curveball and he could land in Detroit. Or, to Bills Mafia's discomfort, he could be a Kansas City Chief. Whatever happens next is up to Hopkins.
Buckle up, Bills Mafia.
