The Denver Broncos' practices are looking a little different these days without a rookie head coach running things.

Last offseason clearly didn't work with rookie head coach Nathaniel Hackett running things. Now, Sean Payton is in charge, and he has been doing things a little differently than Hackett did.

"Yeah, I think I had to sum it up in one word, I'd say educational, it's, he's really good at explaining how he wants things done and why it's being done," safety Justin Simmons told the media on Thursday. "And I think it gives a great purpose to everyone know, before and after each, you know, a set period of whatever it is…

"Yeah, there's, there are subtle differences. And I think that that, I think that kind of tells the tale of itself, you know, you have someone that knows, knows what they're doing, has done it, you know, years and years and years and has been successful at it. And so you can kind of see how those details stack up. As the days go on. And we're still in the early stages of OTAs. And so I'm excited to see the progression from OTA to minicamp to camp, and to the preseason, and then it's a season."

Educational practices are huge when installing a completely different offense and defensive scheme. They are also good for teams like the Broncos that have struggled to be a winning team with a poor culture the last six or even years.

Hearing the way Simmons talks about Payton and his coaching style makes me feel even more sure that the Broncos made the right hire. They needed a guy who has done this before, and they needed a guy that has turned around a franchise before, just like Payton did with the New Orleans Saints.

Soon those practices will change a bit, and we will see things really start to ramp up. The Broncos are coming for it this season.
