Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields might be from Georgia, but he's fully embraced life as a Chicagoan.
Fields, a former standout player at Ohio State (after spending a season with the Georgia Bulldogs), was the No. 11 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
The former Buckeyes star has dealt with some adversity during his first two years in the NFL — mostly due to the lack of weapons around him with the Bears — but he appears poised to take a major step forward in 2023. Fields is hoping he can take that step so he can bring the Lombardi Trophy back to Chicago.
Fields doesn't want that Lombardi Trophy just for himself and his teammates, he wants it for the fans, too.
The talented signal-caller hasn't been shy about praising Bears fans since his arrival in Chicago two years ago. And that trend continued this week.
Fields appeared on WGN this week and he pointed out how he's always "felt the love" from Bears fans, before noting how it feels to have "great fans".
This isn't the first time that Fields has praised Bears fans in recent months.
In early February, ahead of Super Bowl LVII, Fields called Bears fans the "best fans in the country" before acknowledging how they consistently showed up for games in 2022 despite the team only winning three games (that's not common in the NFL…just go look at the crowds that showed up for Carolina Panthers games in Charlotte last season, for example).
It's clear that Fields has a deep love for the fans in Chicago. And that will serve him well as he attempts to become the biggest superstar in the city in 2023.
