The Dallas Cowboys have been linked to All-Pro wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins for quite a while. It heated up back in March when Hopkins was in Dallas with Dez Bryant, the franchise's all-time leader in touchdown receptions.

"I keep hearing y'all say my name around here. What's up? Talk to me," said Hopkins.

A few days after the Cowboys made a trade for cornerback Stephon Gilmore, Jane Slater of NFL Network got the buzz to a fevered pitch.

"As for DeAndre Hopkins, those rumors have been incredibly persistent. Here's what I can tell you about that after talking to someone close to him. D-Hop absolutely wants to come to Dallas. He wants to be a Dallas Cowboy" said Slater.

Dallas chose to trade for veteran receiver Brandin Cooks instead, and his speed and versatility will be a major asset to the Cowboys' offense in 2023. However, the idea of Hopkins to Dallas just got a pulse again.

The five-time All-Pro was released by the Arizona Cardinals on Friday.

Hopkins was willing to make financial concessions to execute a trade to Dallas. In 2023, Hopkins was set to make over $19 million which is what caused potential suitors to become cautious and made a trade extremely difficult to execute.

That's a thing of the past now, and Hopkins can negotiate with the Cowboys or any other team. Hopkins, Cooks, and Michael Gallup would be an absolute force on the outside and allow CeeDee Lamb to feast in the slot where he does most of his damage. Plus, Hopkins can play inside as well, so the options on how to attack would be plentiful.

If Dallas wants Hopkins, he just became much easier to obtain.
