The Chicago Bears were the worst team in the NFL in 2022.
On paper at least.
Bears fans know that Chicago was a tough team to play last season, but they still lost more games than any other NFL team.
But things are already starting to change with how the Bears are viewed by the national media.
In fact, CBS Sports' Pete Prisco gave Chicago a massive bump in his post-draft power rankings.
Prisco moved the Bears from No. 32 (dead last) to No. 23.
From CBS Sports: This is another team moving in the right direction. Justin Fields needs to improve as a passer, but they made moves this offseason to help that become a reality. They are a year away.
If Chicago can protect Fields — and they should be better in that area after selecting Tennessee offensive lineman Darnell Wright in the first round — then we could see the Bears take the same giant leap that the Cincinnati Bengals took in 2021.
I don't think anyone is ready to say that Fields is going to be the next Joe Burrow or Jalen Hurts, but he showed last season that he can be an electric player. It's not a sure thing that Fields is going to turn into an elite quarterback, but there's no doubt he has the talent to get there.
