Chicago Bears first-round pick Darnell Wright is entering rookie minicamp with a veteran’s mindset.

Wright, drafted by the Bears with the No. 10 overall pick, figures to immediately assume the starting role at right tackle. But Wright knows better than to look too far ahead.

The Tennessee standout is taking things one day at a time as he works to prove himself to Chicago’s coaching staff as well as his new teammates.

ESPN’s Courtney Cronin caught up with Wright on Friday to ask him about rookie minicamp which kicked off this week.

“I don’t feel really feel any different,” Wright said on being the team’s top draft pick. “I’m trying to still make the team, know what I mean? (Offensive line) coach [Chris Morgan] made it real clear in the first meeting we had. Everybody in the room is the same player. You’re here now. Now you have an opportunity in front of you. I’m going to try my best to capture that opportunity.”

Wright is already sounding like a leader, even if it’s just amongst his fellow rookies. Chicago has put an emphasis on adding talent who can also make an impact in the locker room, and early indications are that Wright fits that bill even though he’s only 21 years old.
