The Denver Broncos could have a joint practice this offseason with another team as we await the details to be finalized.
As the schedule has now been released, we know that the Broncos will play the Arizona Cardinals on the road to start their preseason and finish their preseason with the Los Angeles Rams at home. That second game is still being finalized with the San Francisco 49ers.
We also know that the Broncos would love to host the Rams for a joint practice before that preseason game, per Sean Payton.
“The goal is to have a joint practice with the Rams,” coach Sean Payton said on May 13. “Sean [McVay] and I have talked. Obviously, the ownership groups are connected, along with [Rams GM] Les [Sneed] and George [Paton].
"There has been no announcement made, but our hope and goal is to have a chance to practice here,” Payton said. “I wasn’t here last year, but I know [the team] did it with Dallas. Our goal is to have a joint practice with Los Angeles and play that third [preseason] game.”
Last season we saw some drama with the Broncos and Cowboys in practice. We saw some fights, heckling, and some other things that would have been great Hard Knocks content.
The Broncos and Rams played last year, and it wasn't pretty as a hobbled Rams team put up 50 points on a good Broncos defense. Let's hope we don't see something similar if indeed they do have a joint practice.
