The Chicago Bears were one of just four NFL teams that met the criteria to be featured in the iconic yearly training camp documentary series "Hard Knocks."
The HBO staple show has requirements that automatically eliminate teams that have "a first-year head coach, secured a playoff berth in the past two seasons and appeared on “Hard Knocks” within the past 10 years."
As such, only the Bears, New Orleans Saints, and Washington Commanders were eligible in 2023. On Wednesday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the Jets were going to be featured on the show.
Let's face it. The decision is unsurprising in every way. The Jets have Aaron Rodgers in their ranks in what will be his first and maybe only season without the Green Bay Packers. The team's roster is talented enough for the Jets to take a shot at the Buffalo Bills' reign in the AFC East.
But watching Fields & Co. in training camp could've been a lot of fun and diehard fans of the franchise will lose out on a unique opportunity to watch their team in an entirely new light.
Maybe next year could be Chicago's turn provided they still meet the requirements. I can bet, however, that fans won't be rooting for it as they'd much rather earn a spot in the postseason.
The Bears' rookies will report to training camp on July 22nd with veterans joining them on July 25th.
