The New York Jets completed their biggest task today. After a busy offseason highlighted by the arrival of QB Aaron Rodgers, the Jets had not extended star defensive lineman Quinnen Williams. That changed today. New York signed Williams to a four-year deal, worth $96 million. The guarantees on the deal total $66 million.
Williams is ready to get to work for New York, and he made that clear on Twitter. He also thanked Jets franchise co-owner Woody Johnson in his tweet.
Williams is a cornerstone player for the Jets. In four seasons, he has totaled 27.5 sacks, 11 pass deflections, and 191 total tackles. 2022 was clearly his best season so far. He continues to improve and projects to reach double digit sacks consistently in the league.
The Jets had to find a way to get this deal done, and they did. Expect Williams to be one of the best interior defensive linemen in the NFL for years to come.
