The Denver Broncos may be finding themselves on the outside looking in with the Dalvin Cook sweepstakes.

The whole offseason, at least around the time we found out Cook would be heading to a different team, Broncos fans and media have been entertaining the possibility of Cook joining the squad. And why wouldn't they? It's a perfect fit for both sides, especially the Broncos, who runs the same scheme he likes, a zone-based running game.

Entertaining the idea of a Pro Bowler coming to the Broncos is alright; however, it's starting to look less and less likely with the recent news we have gotten.

We know that the Broncos and Dolphins emerged as the two teams who wanted Cook and have made a push. We also know that Cook really likes the Dolphins because he is from Florida, and they also fit him schematically. But after what he recently said, the Broncos may be falling down the list

"You know, a lot of people got me pegged going back home (to the Dolphins)," Cook started. "A lot of people got me going to the Jets. It's all over the place right now, but what's going to be important for me is just going to that right situation and helping somebody turn the page," Cook said. "I want to go and be the piece that can just help somebody win and get over the hump and whatever that situation comes with, if it comes with me taking less reps, but me being in the perfect situation to hold up that trophy, I don't mind."

That means he has potentially the Buffalo Bills on his radar or even the New England Patriots. Adding two other teams to the mix doesn't help the Broncos at all.

"I just wanna go somewhere I can just get the ball and just help somebody win, and turn the next page."

The Broncos also need to be put in place to compete for a Super Bowl this year. If all goes well, could they in 2024? Sure. But, at the moment, they are looking like a rebuilding team. Cook may not want to be a part of that.
