It may be the offseason, but Justin Fields is still putting in work.
Fields is training with teammate Khalil Herbert in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, per Herbert's Instagram. Herbert is from Fort Lauderdale and attended American Heritage High School.
The teammates were later joined by fellow Bear Velus Jones Jr.
It is an encouraging sign to see Fields working to build rapport with the young offensive weapons.
Herbert could figure to see an enhanced role in 2023 after former starter David Montgomery signed with the Detroit Lions in free agency. Herbert has shown flashes of quality play, finishing with 731 rushing yards and four touchdowns in 2022.
The Bears did bring D'Onta Foreman into the RB room, but Herbert should still get plenty of chances in 2023.
Jones contributed mainly on special teams in 2022. The receiver/returner finished with 607 return yards and 107 receiving yards.
Jones could also have an increased role in 2023 as there are several ways to utilize his versatility. Jones can be lined up in the backfield or in the slot.
While the Bears have brought in DJ Moore and could potentially add more in the draft, Jones figures to still have a role as a gadget player and return man.
Fields will be seeking to build off an impressive 2022 campaign in 2023.
The young star completed over 60% of his passes for 2,242 yards, with 17 passing TDs and 11 interceptions. Fields was deadly on the run as well, finishing as the Bears' leading rusher with 1,143 yards and eight rushing TDs.
