The Giants were planning on franchise tagging the RB for this season, but he would prefer a long-term extension from the team.
As one of the best overall running backs in the NFL when healthy, it does make some sense. A former Super Bowl champion is taking the side of the player in this scenario.
On Good Morning Football, former Patriots DB Jason McCourty explained why Barkley should get a new contract from the Giants.
