Gone are the days where national media talking heads would lump the Tennessee Titans in with other Super Bowl contenders from around the league. While the team is entering a transition year, one respected national media outlet is throwing a little too much shade at the Titans.

Pro Football Focus recently released its pre-draft power rankings. In these rankings, the Titans check in at No. 23 on the list, which seems a touch disrespectful to a group that is just one season removed from securing the top spot in the AFC.

From PFF: The Titans signed tackle Andre Dillard, who may have potential but hasn’t really played enough snaps to truly prove himself. Despite having a top-10 defense already, the additions of Arden Key and linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair will only improve the unit.

Sure, the Titans’ offense has plenty of questions it must answer as the 2023 offseason progresses. Tennessee didn’t make any splash signings during the free agency period, but the team did ink OT Andre Dillard and OL Daniel Brusnkill to shore up its offensive line.

If PFF considers the Titans’ defense to have upgraded from what they already considered to be a top-10 unit, then how is Tennessee ranked so low? The math is not mathing, folks.

Don't get me wrong, the Titans have its own fair share of issues, but cluster injuries were at the root of the team’s unraveling in 2022.

The Titans aren’t a flashy team, and much of that has to do with its anemic offense. But just because the Titans aren’t an appealing team to watch, doesn’t mean they are an NFL bottom-feeder. Pro Football Focus whiffed on this one.
