Now obviously when you pick in those later rounds, there is more bust potential than boom, because they are in those rounds for a reason. But that doesn't change the potential factor. There are plenty of guys who have panned out being drafted that late. Antonio Brown is one of the best to ever do it and was drafted in the sixth round.
Bryce Ford-Wheaton is thee guy that has boom potential in those later rounds. Matt Miller of ESPN thinks the Broncos will draft him in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft with the 195th pick in the draft.
Here is what NFL.com had to say about what kind of prospect Ford-Wheaton is, and what exactly he can bring to the NFL if he were to get drafted:
Ford-Wheaton is a big, long wideout specializing in downfield jump-ball victories. He’s a high riser with an above-average wingspan, but he rarely slips past press coverage easily and fails to separate like he should relative to the blazing speed he showed at the NFL Scouting Combine. He’s a raw route runner with tight hips and a lack of attention to detail that allows defenders to anticipate breaks and contest his catches on a regular basis. Ford-Wheaton has the size and hand strength to post victories on 50-50 throws, but he will need to prove he can consistently play to his athletic ability.
Ford-Wheaton is a guy that is an aggressive catcher at the point of attack. He can go up and get it, and in fact did that a ton at West Virginia. They loved to throw it to him on the back corner fade route at the end one, and he was successful in doing it. He even had a few screenplays that were successful too.
This guy had an impressive combine, as he ran a 4.38 40-yard dash and had a 41-inch vertical. He has the athleticism to be elite, and the tape is there. Hopefully, he is there when the Broncos pick in round six.
