The Dallas Cowboys once had the best offensive line in the NFL. It appears they are trying to get back to that, and it started with drafting Tyler Smith in the first round a year ago.

Dallas added another piece to its offensive line in the 2023 NFL Draft, but it wasn't until Day 3. Asim Richards out of North Carolina was taken with the 169th pick, but someone already knew that would happen.

Who is it you might say?

Well, this wasn't a draft expert or a former coach or teammate, it was the brother of Richards who foresaw it coming true.

You can't make stuff like this up.

For Richards, this has to be surreal. Being drafted does that all by itself. However, to have his brother predict the team he was going to play for has to blow the mind of Richards and make him secure about ending up in Dallas.

Richards may not be a well-known name, but he's coming off of a fantastic season. According to Pro Football Focus, Richards only gave up three sacks and 20 pressures in 667 pass-blocking snaps in 2022.

The Cowboys are getting a versatile player in Richards. In addition to his work at left tackle (logged 2,449 snaps in college), Richards has experience at left guard, a spot the Cowboys desperately need help in. So, he will still get after it at tackle but Richards will also compete for the starting left guard spot.

Richards is a fifth-round pick so at that point in the draft it's about potential and the chance to hopefully mold a player into something productive. Well, Cowboys' offensive line coach Mike Solari certainly believes there's something about Richards that can translate well in the NFL.

“He’s an ascending player. He’s young. Really excited about this addition," said Solari. "He’s a smart young man. He wouldn’t have trouble moving left to right.”

Richards is one of the more intriguing picks by the Cowboys in this draft, and if he pans out, a future starter could be on the horizon.
