The Chicago Bears are showing interest in one of the combine’s biggest winners who also has ties to the Windy City.

Aaron Wilson reports that Northwestern DT Adetomiwa Adebawore has recently visited with the Bears. It’s important to note that Adebawaore also met privately with the Bears at Northwestern’s Pro Day.

His teammate, Peter Skoronski, has been capturing most of the draft buzz as a projected top 10 pick, but Adebawore has plenty to offer prospective teams in his own regard.

Adebawore ran the 40-yard dash in an impressive 4.49 seconds at the combine in Indianapolis. He had a 1.61 10-yard split, a 37 1/2 inch vertical leap, a 10-5 broad jump and bench pressed 225 pounds a whopping 27 times.

In 2022, Adebawore earned third-team All-Big Ten honors registering 38 tackles, nine TFLs, five sacks and two forced fumbles. He did so by playing on the interior of the defensive line, as well as lining up outside as an edge rusher.

Here's a look at some of Adebawore's highlights at Northwestern.

His versatility and athleticism have certainly boosted his stock after a strong showing in Indy. Adebawore also fits a Bears need as the team has spent a hefty chunk of their salary cap to bolster the middle of the defense.

It wouldn’t be surprising to hear Adebawore’s name called late in the first round. Though the Bears’ lone first-round selection comes at No. 9 overall, Chicago has two second-round picks, a third-round pick, and two fourth-round picks as ammunition to jump back in and steal Adebawore at the back end of the first round.

Bears general manager Ryan Poles recently spoke about his desire to add local talent to the team’s roster and Adebawore certainly fits the bill.
