According to a report from ESPN's Turron Davenport, the Tennessee Titans are in agreement on a four-year contract extension with star defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons.

Simmons is the anchor of Tennessee's defensive front and one of the most dominant tackles in the NFL. Over the last two seasons, Simmons has recorded 16 sacks, 108 tackles, and 16 tackles for loss.

New Titans' GM Ran Carthon has established a strong relationship with Simmons from the moment he was hired in Tennessee and Simmons once referred to him as "the man for the job." Carthon is now walking the walk, locking up the Titans' star defender long-term.

Signing Simmons to an extension was a priority for the Titans this offseason for good reason. His impact, both immediate and down the line, is essential to the winning culture the Titans hope to maintain.

Simmons never wanted to be anywhere but Nashville, and now Titans can finally rejoice with number 98 here to stay.

Update: NFL Network's Ian Rapoport has released the financial details of the contract between Simmons and the Titans.
