Well Texans fans, you have a new face for the franchise.
Leading up to the draft, rumors started to circulate that perhaps the Texans would avoid the QB position altogether at No. 2. However, just minutes before the draft, it was revealed that CJ Stroud suddenly became a huge favorite to be the second pick.
Ultimately, the Texans decided to address the most important position after all.
The Houston Texans selected former Ohio State star QB CJ Stroud at No. 2.
Stroud immediately provides clarity at the QB spot for the Texans. The former Buckeye is lauded for his pinpoint accuracy and strong arm. In two seasons as the starter in Columbus, Stroud completed just shy of 70% of his passes, and threw for over 8,000 yards and 85 touchdowns.
Stroud will bring a winning culture to Houston and immediately makes Houston one of the most exciting young offenses in the league. After weeks of smokescreens and diversions, the Texans went with what was the most logical choice.
It will be interesting to see if the team adds weapons for Stroud next. Check back all night for updates on the Texans' moves in the 2023 Draft.
