There was a lot of attention put on Denver Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II this season. He was one of the best CBs in the entire NFL, and he may have been the best.

That being said, another elite talent in the Denver secondary went a bit under the radar this season.

Safety Justin Simmons didn't get as much publicity, but he was still very impressive.

Simmons remains one of the best safeties in the league. His consistency and balanced game are special.

Accordingly, Simmons got some praise from the Associated Press on their All-Pro team. He was selected as one of the safeties on the 2nd-team squad, headlining the best players in the league.

Simmons' selection put him in a category with legendary Broncos safety Steve Atwater.

It is another notch for a special career by Simmons. The Broncos safety got the honor over talented names like Jessie Bates III, Kyle Dugger, and Jevon Holland.

Simmons has many special seasons left, but his resumé is already quite impressive.

Not many other safeties show the type of consistent play that Simmons has over the last handful of seasons.

Atwater is one of the best defenders in Broncos franchise history.

He is also a top ten safety in NFL history. His legacy is one of the most well-respected in Denver's history.

Now, Simmons' name will always reside with Atwater's in Denver Broncos lore.
