Chicago Bears OT Teven Jenkins PFF grades Pro Football Focus most improved player NFL football stats news

The Chicago Bears relied upon plenty of young players to play key roles for the team in the 2022 season. With experience comes improvement, but the Bear that showed the most growth might come as a surprise to some.

Pro Football Focus released its list of Every NFL team’s most improved player in 2022. By their metrics, Bears OG Teven Jenkins improved his PFF rating the most. He jumped from a 47.5 grade in 2021 all the way up to an 80.7 grade this season.

PFF’s excerpt on Jenkins reads as follows:

"Jenkins played only 160 snaps as a rookie but showed in 2022 why he was drafted early in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Solid as a pass blocker, he allowed 12 total pressures from 304 pass-blocking snaps and produced an 82.2 PFF run-blocking grade, which ranked third among all guards."

Jenkins’ name was thrown around in trade discussions after a disappointing rookie campaign. One year later and he looks like he could develop into an anchor in the trenches for years to come.

The Bears will likely undergo a major facelift this offseason, but Jenkins is absolutely a player Chicago will count on in 2023. Though the team is expected to add new pieces around him in the offseason, Jenkins appears to be a staple up front for what could be a vastly improved offensive line next season.
