The Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles will battle it out in the Super Bowl this Sunday. However, a player that's not even involved in the game has provided bulletin board material.
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver, Brandon Aiyuk, didn’t hold back when it came to who he thinks will emerge victorious.
"If I were going to bet on this game, I would bet everything that I own, get it in cash, and put my money on the Kansas City Chiefs," said Aiyuk.
That's certain to raise a few eyebrows.
Aiyuk could be expressing some sour grapes here. Not only did his team get taken to the woodshed by the Eagles 31-7 in the NFC Championship Game, but Aiyuk provided a pedestrian one reception for 10 yards.
The Chiefs and Eagles both finished with the best record in the NFL this season at 14-3, and it's not hard to see why. They finished first and third in yards per game offensively and were the top two defenses in terms of sacks.
To cap it all off, Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts are the first set of black quarterbacks to meet in the Super Bowl, they are both top candidates for NFL MVP honors, making this a truly unique matchup.
The Chiefs had enough to deal with when comes to the Eagles' high-powered offense and smothering defense. Now, Aiyuk just gave the Eagles more ammo to bring home the third consecutive Super Bowl title for the NFC, but with Mahomes leading the way for the Chiefs, that won't be an easy task.
