The good news coming from the Buffalo Bills is that DB Damar Hamlin is awake and communicating without the need of a breathing tube.
A remarkable advancement from where Hamlin was on Monday night.
Unfortunately, the Bills game this weekend won't have as much meaning had the their last game gone on as normal. With the NFL changing the handling of how the 1-3 seeds will be formatted as well as where the games might be played.
At the moment, however, the Bills can now focus on their matchup with the New England Patriots. A team who needs to win to make the playoffs.
But even after all that has happened this week, are QB Josh Allen and the entire Bills team ready mentally?
Short answer: Yes.
Allen and head coach Sean McDermott didn't even hesitate to answer when asked.
It's a very scary thing to deal with. Seeing someone just collapse right in front of everyone. Having to be given CPR and essentially brought back to life. Especially when there's no certainty of if they will pull through.
It would be understanding for anyone if the Buffalo Bills weren't ready mentally for their regular season finale.
Knowing Hamlin is pulling through is taking a major weight off the minds of the players. Allowing them to re-energize and go into Sunday with their proper mindset.
