The Pro Football Hall of Fame got it wrong for the second straight year. Chicago Bears legendary kick returner, Devin Hester, was once again left off the Pro Football Hall of Fame's class of inductees.
One Hall of Famer is taking up the fight for Hester, who is undoubtedly the best return man in NFL history. Hester revolutionized the return game during his 11-year career.
Deion Sanders joined NBC’s Peter King going on an epic rant detailing what is wrong with the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
“How can Devin Hester not be in the Hall of Fame? Devin Hester changed the game,” Sanders exclaimed. “When you think of returners, Devin Hester, he changed the game. The second year straight, that stuff makes me mad because enow hate is involved. Hate shouldn’t be involved in this stuff.”
Though hate might not be the right word, there is an unfair bias surrounding Hester. His lack of snaps is thought to be holding back his Hall of Fame hopes. It’s absolutely ridiculous that voters hold Hester’s generation talents against him because he was a special teamer.
“He’s unique and he did something that has never been done before,” Sanders added. “You couldn’t even get up to go pee, you hold it on fourth down because of Devin Hester. Nobody wanted to kick to him.”
In the NFL’s illustrious history, there has never been a more electrifying return man than Hester. Many could make a sturdy argument that Hester should have been a first ballot Hall of Famer, but to be excluded for a second consecutive year is total bogus and reflects poorly on such a highly esteemed entity.
