Luka Doncic is heading back to the NBA All-Star game, this time as a starter.
Doncic's NBA All-Star selection marks the fourth-straight season he's achieved the feat. And as a result of his selection as a starter, Doncic joins Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Shaquille O’Neal, Isiah Thomas, and Anthony Davis as the only players to earn four All-Star nods before their 24th birthday.
Additionally, Doncic will also break a tie with Dirk Nowitzki (2) for the most All-Star starts in Mavericks history.
He made the All-Star team following a stretch of basketball that has been the best in his career. Doncic is averaging 33.8 points per game, 9.1 rebounds, 8.6 assists, and 1.5 steals.
Currently, the Mavericks sit in the middle of the pack in a crowded Western Conference, and Doncic is leading the league in scoring.
His All-Star selection comes as no surprise, as his one-man-band displays have become the subject of discussion. The Mavericks haven't built a strong roster around Doncic and as a result, his need for offensive production has ballooned.
it is good to see him rewarded for his play and production. However, what needs to follow is the Mavericks' success on the court.
