The Chicago Bears are soon to enter one of its most highly anticipated offseasons in recent history. Chicago has a surplus of cap space, coupled with complete control at the top of the draft, the Bears are in position to return to relevance in 2023.

There will be plenty of big names in free agency linked to the Bears over the course of the next two months. That being said, one of the league’s most exciting players is thought to be a possibility for Chicago.

Giants running back Saquon Barkley is seemingly growing frustrated with contract negotiations in New York.

It just so happens that the Bears could be in the market for a starting running back with David Montgomery set to enter the free agency pool himself.

One sportsbook lists the Bears as the frontrunner to land Barkley once free agency begins. Sportsbetting.ag has the Bears as the odds-on favorites to sign the All-Pro running back at 4/1 odds, but the bet is void if he re-signs to New York.

It’s certainly a fun scenario that isn’t all that far-fetched to imagine. If general manager Ryan Poles wants to spend money on a running back, nobody makes more sense than the dual threat up in New York.

It’s important to note that plenty could still change between now and mid-March when players become eligible to sign with teams. That being said, if Chicago can rebuild its offensive line, the Bears become a much more attractive destination to Barkley.
