The Chicago Bears are the biggest winners on the opening day of the NFL’s free agency period.

Not only did the Bears ink linebackers T.J. Edwards and Tremaine Edmunds, but GM Ryan Poles is adding a serious upgrade on the offensive line as well. Ian Rapoport reports the Bears are signing RG Nate Davis to a three-year deal.

Mike Garafolo reports that the deal is worth $30 million, including $19.25 million guaranteed.

Davis, 26, was an instrumental piece to the Tennessee Titans’ offensive line throughout his first four seasons in the NFL. He started in each of the 12 games he played in, but was placed on injured reserve with an ankle injury late in the season.

Injuries are the only worry with Davis, who has started in 54 games in his four-year career.

Davis’ strengths are in run blocking, but he can also hold his own in pass protection. He was a key factor up front for the Titans during Derrick Henry’s 2,000-yard season in 2020.

The Bears missed out on a couple of the top offensive tackles, but the team proved its commitment to upgrading the protection for QB Justin Fields with this move.
