Panthers' WR DJ Chark is a MONSTER when healthy: Film Breakdown
In this film breakdown, we take a look at Carolina Panthers WR DJ Chark, who recently signed with the team on a 1-year deal.
Chark is a low-end WR1/high-end WR2, and combined with Adam Thielen, Miles Sanders, and Hayden Hurst, he has a chance to help revitalize the Panthers offense that has been so miserable recently. He's a great deep threat, with 4.3 speed, at 6 foot 3 inches tall, and has the ability to burn even the best CBs in the league. When healthy, Chark has been tough to defend, as he uses his size well and is great at initiating contact with DBs, using his size to his advantage. He is exactly what Carolina needed to add this offseason, after losing DJ Moore, and if he stays healthy, we could see a huge year from Chark.
Strengths:
- Speed: DJ Chark is known for his speed and ability to create separation from defenders.
- Size: At 6'4" and 198 pounds, Chark has a good size advantage over most cornerbacks in the league.
- Route Running: Chark is a precise route runner, which allows him to get open and create opportunities for his quarterback.
- Ball Tracking: Chark has good ball-tracking skills and is able to make difficult catches.
- Yards After Catch: Chark is elusive after the catch and has the ability to break tackles and turn short passes into big gains.
Weaknesses:
- Consistency: Chark has been inconsistent at times, which has led to drops and missed opportunities.
- Physicality: Despite his size, Chark can struggle against more physical cornerbacks and may have trouble winning contested catches.
- Short Yardage Situations: Chark may not be the best option in short yardage situations, as he is more of a deep threat receiver.
- Blocking: Chark's blocking could improve, as he may not always be the most willing blocker downfield.
- Injury History: Chark has had some injury issues in his career, which could limit his availability for games.
