QB Anthony Richardson & TE Michael Mayer headline list of NFL Combine winners and losers
In this film breakdown, we take a look at the winners and losers of the 2023 NFL Combine in Indianapolis.
There were tons of jaw-dropping performances across the board, with various prospects stealing the show in a couple of drills, and improving their draft stock. However, there were also a handful of prospects who saw their draft stock take a hit after a mediocre to poor showing in front of the coaches and GMs in attendance. Guys like Florida QB Anthony Richardson and Georgia TE Darnell Washington were some of the big winners, with viral displays of their freak athleticism. Others like LSU WR Kayshon Boutte and Notre Dame TE Michael Mayer hurt themselves, testing poorly in the biggest job interview of their lives.
WINNERS –
- Anthony Richardson: Richardson is known for his impressive size, arm, and athleticism. He has drawn comparisons to Cam Newton.
- Julius Brents: Brents is known for his size and physicality as a cornerback, standing at 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing around 200 pounds.
- Adetomiwa Adebawore: Adebawore displays strong acceleration off the ball, and is able to improve his timing on snap counts throughout games.
- Zack Kuntz: Kuntz is known for his size and athleticism as a tight end, and has the ability to create mismatches against smaller defenders and is a reliable target in the passing game.
LOSERS –
- Ji'Ayir Brown: Brown is known for his athleticism, speed, and agility as a cornerback, and his ability to make plays on the ball in coverage.
- Michael Mayer: Mayer is known for his size, athleticism, and catching ability as a tight end. He has the ability to create mismatches against smaller defenders and is a reliable target in the passing game.
- Clark Phillips III: Phillips is known for his size, speed, and athleticism as a cornerback. He has excellent ball skills and the ability to make plays on the ball in coverage.
- Kayshon Boutte: Boutte is known for his speed, quickness, and route-running ability as a wide receiver. He has excellent ball skills and the ability to make contested catches in traffic.
