Tank Dell is the MOST EXPLOSIVE WR in the 2023 NFL Draft: Film Breakdown
In this film breakdown, we take a look at Houston Cougars WR Nathaniel “Tank” Dell. Dell is one of the most electrifying prospects in this draft class, and was a highly productive wide receiver in college.
Dell is virtually untouchable at the line of scrimmage, and has great speed and agility after the catch. Dell is also a strong route runner with great hands. His only main drawbacks heading into the NFL Draft are due to his 5'8 163 lbs stature. However, he never missed a game in college, and has proven to have durability.
Strengths
- Speed: Dell has difference-making speed, with insane rare explosiveness and quickness. Projects as a Tyreek Hill type of weapon
- Agility: Elite ability to fluidly change directions at every level
- Short-area quickness: Creates great separation in small areas and can get away from tackles
- Burst: Great foot speed and gets to top speed very quickly
- Big play ability: Home run potential every time he runs a route
- Great at the line: Great at shaking the press and getting vertical/stacking his defender
Weaknesses
- Size: This is a major concern at 5'8 163 lbs. His durability will most likely be the thing that concerns teams most heading into the Draft.
- Not a flexible piece: Size hinders flexibility within an offense. Very tough to put a player at his size on the edge, so he is a one-trick pony on offense. Dell is a dynamic and proven returner though
- Small catch radius: QB must be very precise when throwing to Bell, as he had trouble adjusting to passes that aren't in his wheelhouse
- Contested catches: College contested catch percentage was 41.5%
- Level of competition: AAC competition will raise red flags with teams
