Gonzalez stood out this season at Oregon, after transferring in from Colorado where he played two years. Gonzalez is a very solid prospect who shows the ability to shine in any defensive scheme, and is a player who has no real flaws, or skills that won't translate to the NFL. He has greatly improved his ball skills, he has excellent footwork, and his college tape shows a CB who is ready to be a shutdown NFL CB.

Strengths:

  • Speed/Agility: Good speed and agility to keep up with receivers
  • Lockdown: Strong coverage skills to prevent passes from being completed
  • Play recognition: Good instincts and awareness to read the opposing team's plays
  • Hands: Good ball skills to intercept passes or break up plays
  • Physical: Physicality and toughness to make tackles and disrupt plays
  • Leader: Leadership and communication skills to coordinate with other players on defense

Weaknesses: 

  • Size: Lack of size or physical strength that could make it harder to match up against bigger or more physical receivers
  • Fluidity: Vulnerability to being beaten by double moves or misdirection plays
  • Tackling: Struggles with tackling or providing run support
  • Risk Taker: Overconfidence or tendency to take risks that can lead to big plays by the opposing team.
