The big story these days surrounding the Dallas Cowboys is All-Pro guard Zack Martin and his absence from training camp.

Dallas gave All-Pro cornerback Trevon Diggs his long-term security on Tuesday with a five-year extension worth up to $104 million. Well, Martin is currently being paid around $7 million less per year than the top guards in the NFL.

Martin has played nine seasons in the NFL and has been named an All-Pro in eight of them. He's generally recognized as not only the best guard but the top interior offensive lineman in the league.

That makes it completely understandable why Martin wants to be compensated for the caliber of player that he is. However, despite his current holdout, Martin texted a message to his teammates on the offensive line that will make Cowboys fans smile.

“You all set the tone. I’ll be there soon," said Martin.

Now that's an extremely encouraging sign.

While Martin is out, Josh Ball got the first-team reps on the first day of training camp practice. Matt Farniok will get his chances as well.

Quarterback Dak Prescott got his financial security a few years ago so he knows all about wanting to get what he deserves. In regards to Martin's situation, Prescott kept it short and sweet.

“Pay the man," Prescott said.

Martin is currently being fined $50,000 for each day of practice that he misses so he certainly wants to get this thing resolved soon, and the Cowboys want to as well.
