The Dallas Cowboys have taken care of one of their best players for the long term.

After extending safety Donovan Wilson and All-Pro cornerback Trevon Diggs this offseason, Dallas has agreed to terms on a three-year extension with safety Malik Hooker.

The Cowboys have other players like wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, quarterback Dak Prescott, and right tackle Terence Steele to give extensions to as well. However, they felt it was time to pull the trigger on Hooker.

Hooker will get up to $24 million with $16 million in guaranteed money. Also, Hooker gets an $8 million signing bonus, which is due in the next 15 days.

It was a struggle battling through injuries for Hooker during his first four seasons with the Indianapolis Colts. However, he's played in 31 games with nine starts over the last two seasons with the Cowboys and logged a career-high in tackles (62) last season while also tying his best mark in interceptions (3).

Hooker is the centerfielder for the Cowboys on defense as their top free safety, and now he'll be a cornerstone piece for years to come.
