Alright here we go. The Detroit Lions will be making there final cutdowns on Tuesday. That gives us one last chance to try to predict how this thing is going to shake out before Week 1. Here is my final prediction for the Lions depth chart

But first, take a look at how much this thing has changed since the start of camp. Here's every entry for you to peruse.

Let's jump into it. Here's my final prediction.

Ok, the offensive side of things was pretty easy for the most part.

I decided to leave fullback out again. I might wind up being wrong about that one. But I don't mind being wrong. It's part of the job sometimes.

Dylan Drummond really showed out on Friday night. he caught five of the six balls that were thrown his way. I've gone back and forth between him and Chase Cota for a couple weeks now and Drummond really won out on Friday while Cota had a rough game and showed some weaknesses.

Cota's rough game really opened the door for Antione Green too. The Lions need an X receiver and Green showed on Friday night that he's more than capable of playing that role.

In terms of offensive line depth, it feels like the Lions could do better. I initially wanted to include undrafted rookie Connor Galvin in my 53 man roster prediction becasue he had some strong grades on Pro Football focus, but I put Ifedi on the team instead because he's a vet and he played more snaps in the preseason. Well, the Lions released him on Sunday, so I'm putting Galvin in. We'll see if it sticks.

Ifeatu Melifonwu

Right Cornerback

Nickel

Brian Branch

Chase Lucas

Brian Branch has been so good in camp and preseason that the Lions are probably going to start him right away at the nickel corner spot. Jerry Jacobs will start at cornerback two and will probably keep that role even when Emmanuel Moseley comes back.

I full expect Jack Campbell to take over the starting middle linebacker spot and be the green dot Week 1. Derrick Barnes has been good, but Campbell has been really good.

Charles Harris will start at Sam linebacker, but there's a strong chance that James Houston will take over that role as the season goes on.

Special Teams

Position Starter

Kicker

Riley Patterson

Punter

Jack Fox

Long Snapper

Scott Daly

Riley Patterson is the Lions kicker for now. I can't say with a high level of confidence that he will be their starting kicker Week 18.

Lions Roster Cuts Tracker: Keeping tabs on all the 2023 decisions

The NFL offseason is officially over and unfortunately, nothing signals that more than Roster Cutdown Day. For the Detroit Lions, it's been all about depth. This team seems to have it all figured out when it comes to starters. Most of the battles we had our eyes on this summer were all about finding the […]
