With the Cleveland Browns 53-man roster coming together, there’s an interesting wrinkle to the initial team.

Two undrafted free agents will be making the team, at least. Safety Ronnie Hickman Jr. and linebacker Mohamoud Diabate proved to Cleveland that they belonged through the preseason.

Coming into the preseason, both were tabbed as potential UDFAs that could squeak into the fold. With outstanding showings this preseason, they’ve earned it. Coming out of college, many thought both of these players could be drafted.

Hickman intercepted three passes this passes this preseason, including two in one game against the Washington Commanders. It was his coverage ability that was a knock coming out of Ohio State but Hickman has shown that he’s able to make a play on the football.

Diabate is that modern-day linebacker who can fly all over and make plays. Against the Eagles, Diabate forced a fumble, recorded a safety, and led the team in tackles. With an injury to Jordan Kunaszyk, it made sense for Diabate to be a lock.

The Browns still have tough choices to make before 4 p.m. but both players are well on their way to being safe for now. You can keep up with all of the moves here.
