It's over Detroit Lions fans. The cut down period is done and we now know what the Lions 53 man roster is going to look like going into the 2023 NFL season. At least we know what it looks like now. Things could still change throughout the week. Let's waste no time and see what we have.

Quarterback (2)

In: Jared Goff and Teddy Bridgewater

Out: Nate Sudfeld and Adrian Martinez

Not too much of a surprise here. I think there might have been a slight chance that Nate Sudfeld would have made the roster had he not tore his ACL against the Panthers. There was enough quarterback three talk at camp to make me feel that way. Here we are though. Hendon Hooker should make it three when the Lions activate him as they're reportedly thinking about doing.

Running Backs (3)

In: David Montgomery, Jahmyr Gibbs and Jason Cabinda

Out: Craig ReynoldsMohamed Ibrahim, Jermar Jefferson, Benny Snell and Devine Ozigbo

This was always just about the running back three battle. It seemed really clear by the second preseason game that Reynolds was going to keep the gig, but ultimately they released him. You have to wonder if there's a move coming from the Lions.

Wide Receiver (5)

In: Amon-Ra St. Brown, Josh Reynolds, Kalif Raymond, Marvin Jones, Antione Green

Out: Dylan Drummond, Chase Cota, Jason Moore, Trinity Benson, Maurice Alexander and Avery Davis

The Dylan Drummond waiving was pretty surprising. Otherwise, everything seems to make sense here. Once Jameson Williams comes back, there will be some more shifting things around.

Tight Ends (3)

In: Sam LaPorta, James Mitchell and Brock Wright

Out: Darrell Daniels and Daniel Helm

This unit was never really in question. The only thing to wonder about is who will be the tight end two? Mitchell or Wright?

Offensive Line (8)

In: Taylor Decker, Jonah Jackson, Frank Ragnow, Graham Glasgow, Penei Sewell, Halpulivaati Vaitai, Matt Nelson and Colby Sorsdal

Out: Connor Galvin, Germain Ifedi, Brad Cecil, Max Pircher, Alex Mollette, Obina Eze, Darrin Paulo, Bobby Hart, Ryan Swoboda and Kayode Awosika

Something tells me that this isn't a finished product yet. There's still time for the Lions to make some moves before the season starts and I think they will. They'll probably start by perusing the free agent market in search of newly available guys.

Interior Defensive Line (5)

In: Alim McNeil, Isaiah Buggs, Levi Onwuzurike, Benito Jones and Brodric Martin

Out: Cory Durden, Chris Smith and Christian Covington

Everything seems pretty normal here.

In: Aidan Hutchinson, Charles Harris, John Cominsky, Josh Paschal, James Houston, Julian Okwara and Romeo Okwara

Out: Nobody

We talked about how the Lions could be in the market for a running back, well here's where you can get a player that you can trade for one. Julian or Romeo Okwara could be on the move.

Linebackers (6)

Eagles

In: Jack Campbell, Alex Anzalone, Malcolm Rodriguez, Derrick Barnes, Anthony Pittman and Jalen Reeves-Maybin

Out: Trevor Nowaske

The Lions actually have a really nice group of linebackers It's been so long since that's been something that could be said. I think Jack Campbell is your day one starter with the green dot. The depth here is what matters the most though.

Cornerback (6)

In: Cameron Sutton, Jerry Jacobs, Brian Branch,  Emmanuel Moseley, Will Harris, Steven Gilmore and Khalil Dorsey

Out: Chase Lucas, Starling Thomas, and Colby Richardson

There were some surprise cuts here. The Lucas one really sticks out. So does the Starling Thomas one. But it did lead to Emmanuel Moseley's return. Still, the rest of this group looks about as expected expect for Steven Gilmore making the roster. Nobody expected that to happen just a couple weeks ago. He just came on so strong at the end of camp and preseason that he became undeniable.

Safeties (4)

In: C.J. Gardner-Johnson, Kerby Joseph, Tracy Walker and Ifeatu Melifonwu

Out: Brady Breeze, Brandon Joseph and Scott Nelson

No surprises here either. I guess if there was one it's that Tracy Walker is now coming off the bench becasue the Lions improved that much at safety. What a fun group this could be in 2023.

Special Teams

Lon Horwedel-USA TODAY Sports

In: Riley Patterson, Jack Fox and Scott Daly

Out: Parker Romo

I'm not completely sold on the idea that the Lions are done here just yet. Patterson is the kicker as of today, but I think they might take a look at some other options. Either that or I'm overreacting to Patterson's 53 yard miss from Friday.
