Brock Purdy hasn't had to get used to losing since being drafted by the 49ers last year.
But San Francisco's starting quarterback had to pay up this week after being on the wrong end of a bet with teammate George Kittle.
Purdy's alma mater, Iowa State, suffered defeat to Iowa last weekend, and former Hawkeye Kittle arranged a creative forfeit for his quarterback.
Purdy was a good sport, appearing for his Thursday press conference donning the headdress of the Iowa Hawkeyes mascot.
With Iowa having won seven of the last eight meetings with the Cyclones, it's no surprise that Purdy lost his bet with Kittle.
While being forced to celebrate an Iowa win may sting, Purdy is likely to get the chance to express his joy at a lot more personal glories on the field in 2023, having helped the 49ers to a fast start to the new season with a dominant victory over the Steelers on the road last week.
The Niners visit the Rams in Week 2 of the NFL season on Sunday.
