The Indianapolis Colts have started the season stronger than most expected they would.

Now that we are through three weeks of the season, we are starting to see which teams could be sellers and which teams could be buyers at the NFL trade deadline. And the Colts seem to be moving toward the buyer category. So, who could they realistically target around the league?

Potential Colts Trade Targets:

WR Darnell Mooney

The Chicago Bears have, without a doubt, been the NFL’s biggest disappointment so far this season. They do not look to be improved as many projected them to be after their busy offseason. They currently sit at 0-3,

They could look to pile up more future draft capital as they could be back at the drawing board this offseason, which could make a player like Darnell Mooney available. Mooney would give the Colts a speedy compliment to Michael Pittman Jr., who has the ability to play in the slot or on the outside.

TE Kyle Pitts:

Kyle Pitts was considered a “Can’t Miss Prospect” in the 2021 NFL Draft. And it led to him being drafted 4th overall by the Atlanta Falcons. He recorded the 2nd most receiving yards for a rookie tight end in NFL History with 1,026 yards in 2021. Last season, he couldn’t match that success, as he only totaled 356 yards in the ten games he played. And this year, again, he is looking at a lower usage season as he’s totaled 100 yards on nine receptions through the first three games of the 2023 season.

The Falcons are different than the other two players listed in this article because they currently sit at 2-1 with reasonable hope to compete for their division title this season in the NFC South. If they elected to move Pitts, it would come down to not feeling he is a good fit for head coach Arthur Smith's system.

Adding a tight end with Pitt's skill to this offense could take them to another level. It would allow Pitts to grow with fellow Flordia Gator Anthony Richardson at QB for the foreseeable future and possibly reach the high ceiling he was projected during the 2021 NFL Draft.

WR Jerry Jeudy:

The Denver Broncos suffered one of the most embarrassing losses in recent history this past week. When they allowed the Miami Dolphins to score 70 points in Week 3. The Broncos have a challenging task ahead of them at getting back into contention this season at 0-3. They are chasing the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers in the AFC West, and the path to a wildcard slot in the AFC isn’t a cakewalk.

If their season continues to go down the drain, they are a team to watch that could be big sellers at the deadline. They could look to move multiple players as they head for a complete rebuild in the offseason. The player on the Broncos that would make the most sense for the Colts is WR Jerry Jeudy.

A team source has shared with me that the Colts have had an interest in acquiring Jeudy over the past year. So much so that they've made multiple calls to Denver about the WR's availability. The Broncos season trajectory at an all-time low could be just what the Colts need to swoop in and land a WR they've had their eyes on.
