The Las Vegas Raiders don't necessarily have history on their side regarding their upcoming matchup against the Green Bay Packers, but the history could mean that it's their time to shine on Monday Night Football.
According to Tom Lamare of Raiders Today, the Raiders are dominant on Monday Night Football in their history, so they have that working for them. They were 9-1-1 in their first 11 MNF games as the Oakland Raiders. After that, they were 20-2-1 and still are 43-31-1 overall.
The Raiders, though, have not been good historically against the Packers. They are 5-9 against Green Bay all-time. The last time these two teams played one another was in 2019, when the Packers thrashed the then-Oakland Raiders, 42-24.
Coming into this game, both teams are looking to get back on track and back in the win column. Both of these historic franchises have not had stats for the 2023-24 season that they thought they would have; however, Week 5 is a perfect time to get back on track.
The Raiders don't have history on their side, but history may suggest that it's the Raiders' turn.
Raiders history vs. Packers
Let's just start with the fact that the Raiders have lost eight straight games to the Green Bay Packers. The Raiders have not played a close game, less than 10 points, to the Packers since 1999, when the Packers won 28-24
So, in a way, it's safe to say it's the Raiders' turn to shine. That streak can only go on for so long. The last time the Raiders beat the Packers was 1987. Let's hope the MNF history falls in the Raiders' favor this Monday.
