In a game that started out on a positive note, things quickly turned awry.
Between the weather, injuries, and poor play, the sooner this game ended, the better for Pittsburgh.
Here's why:
Let It Rip
Things started out swimmingly for Pittsburgh as the Steelers marched down the field to open the game including this big shot from Pickett to Pickens.
The drive would stall in the red zone however, foreshadowing more hardship for Pittsburgh:
Injury Bug Bites Hard
Not only did Pickett leave the game with an ankle injury, but guard Isaac Seumalo also left and was declared questionable to return, with the last of Pittsburgh's starting linebackers in Elandon Roberts being ruled out with a groin injury.
Second Time is a Charm
This play was initially ruled a TD but the officials overturned the play after it was deemed that Cardinals TE Trey McBride didn't possess the ball through the ground, similar to Dionate Johnson's controversial catch last week.
Wet and Sloppy
The weather was as bad as the product on the field in the first half, even to the point where the teams were over half an hour late starting the second half after a lightning delay.
Steelers All Ruled Out
Both Kenny Pickett and Isaac Seumalo were ruled out coming out of the first half along with starting LB Elandon Roberts who was lost later in the game. Kenny Pickett was seen on the sideline in a walking boot.
Bobbled Exchange Leads to TD
This play was on center Mason Cole, as he continues to struggle to snap the ball with any sort of consistency. Ideally Trubsiky claws it, but the conditions were well known at this point.
To make matters worse, Arizona would cash in on the turnover:
Another Delay
Following that TD from Arizona, the teams and fans were once again asked to clear the stadium.
The delays would amount to 85 mins total.
On The Bright Side
In what was a game that Pittsburgh will quickly try and forget, the only bright spot was that if Arizona was going to score, at least was the hometown favorite in James Conner that did most it.
Better Late Than never
This play wouldn't matter a whole bunch in the grand scheme of the game, but if Pittsburgh is going to be without Kenny Pickett, any signs of life from Trubisky and the receivers is positive.
Pittsburgh is still in the thick of the playoff race, but this was supposed to be a layup for the team. making the rest of the schedule that much harder.
