If the Los Angeles Rams are looking for an upside after losing to the Detroit Lions in the wild-card round, they can look no further than their receiver's historic performance.
Rookie receiver Puka Nacua set the record for most receiving yards in a playoff game by a rookie during Sunday's playoff loss. Nacua finished the game with a wildly impressive nine catches for 181 yards and a touchdown.
Nacua's record-breaking performance beat out that of Seattle Seahawks WR D.K. Metcalf, who earned 160 yards receiving in a playoff game in 2020.
It was an amazing season for the Rams' 2023 fifth-round pick, who also set records in 2023 for the most receptions (105) and receiving yards (1,486) by a rookie in the regular season. Nacua had one of the best rookie receiver performances in history, making him a current top-two favorite to win NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.
So while the Rams' organization and fans are certainly disappointed that the team could not make it past the wild-card round of the playoffs, there's solace in the fact that the Rams overcame a 3-6 record to make the postseason, and did it with one of the best rookie receivers in recent memory.
Looking ahead, the Rams still have both Nacua and an All-Pro wideout in Cooper Kupp locked up for the next three years. Things are looking up for L.A.
