Is their a football game this weekend? You're dang right there is. I'm not talking about the Super Bowl though. I'm talking about what we're all really here for, the Puppy Bowl. We're dog lovers over here at AtoZ Sports and like every year, we'll be locked on to the Puppy Bowl on Sunday, February 11th at 2PM ET on Animal Planet.
There's going to be a lot of puppies out there, but we've chosen five puppies that we're going to be keeping a close eye on. These pups are in line for a good game. Here they are:
Beemo

Beemo is a mix between a dachshund and a miniature schnauzer. The dachund breed was originally bred to hunt. That’s exactly what Beemo does on the field, instead of hunting for small animals, he’s hunting for tackles.
Beemo looks like a no nonsense kind of pup. Maybe it's the eyebrows or the goatee that says "yeah, I've got kids in college at Purdue and these New Balance shoes are very comfortable."
Whatever it might, one things for sure. Beemo is going to tell you to turn that racket you call music down before he makes you turn it down and then takes the squeaky football to the end zone where he can chew it alone.
Angus

Angus is an Australian Shepherd mixed with an Akita. American football is a new game to him. He’s always been more of Aussie rules kind of guy. But he’s ready to show what he can do on the field.
Angus' game is all about speed. Australian Shepherd's are one of the fast dog breeds around. They've been recorded at speeds of 35 MPH. I'm talking the type of speed that has owners really hoping they don't wiggle out of their harness at the park.
If football doesn't work out for Angus, the next logical step for him is to be in movies or commercials because my god that is handsome dog.
Arthur

Arthur is a Miniature American Shepherd mixed with a poodle. He’s going to be looking to leave his mark in this game. By that I mean he’s going to shed and leave fur all over the field.
Arthur is interesting because he looks like a big boy that can be intimidating, but under all that fur is skinniest dog you've ever seen. He can use that to his advantage. Opponents will see a big lumbering dog and then he takes off with the ball.
The other advantage to all that fur is it's good cushioning for the tackles he could take.
Sweetpea

Sweetpea is Cavapoo and she is just too damn cute. Seriously, stop the game so we can pet this dog. I'm not much of a small dog guy, but this little angel is making me rethink that.
At the same time, Sweetpea looks like she could be an angel, but it's all a facade. There's a wrecking machine hiding behind those eyes and she's probably the type of pup that's going to be going full on Lawrence Taylor with here tackles this Sunday. This dog is gonna launch itself at other dogs.
It's going to also help that she's so small that she can take the ball and run under the legs of other dogs on her way to the endzone.
Update: A very sad update. Sweetpea had some health issues and she was unable to overcome them. She has passed away.
Zeke

Zeke is a poodle, but he’s got that dawg in him. You can’t even see his eyes and that’s because he doesn’t want you do. Zeke is the type of dog that would say “show no love, love will get you killed” on the football field. He’s not here to be cute. He’s here to win.
That's why Zeke is my pick for Puppy Bowl MVP when it's all said and done. I'm telling you guys, don't be fooled by that fluffy belly. This guy will hit you and he will hit you hard. Mostly in the feels because he's so cute, but also in the chest as he takes you down and forces a fumble.
Look at that stone cold demeanor on his face. Someone get this dog a treat and some pets immediately. Be sure to also tell him he's a good boy.
There are 119 dogs that will be participating in this game and they are all up for adoption. Animal Planet will also be featuring adoption segments for other dogs as well as cats. If you're thinking about a pet, I can't recommend getting one enough.
If you can't adopt one of these pups or kittens, visit your local humane society and save one. They're all there looking for homes and love. You can be the one that provides that for them.
If you want to see the rest of the puppies participating, there's a gallery of all 119 here.
