Edge rusher day continues for the us here AtoZ Detroit. We already covered Josh Allen,  This time we'll be talking about Vikings Pro Bowler Danielle Hunter.

The Pros

Hunter is a monster and has been a monster for some time now. He just notched double digit sacks for the fifth time in his eight year career and made his fourth Pro Bowl.

2023 might have been his best season. He finished with 16.5 sacks, 80 pressures, 55 hurries and seven quarterback hits. A tremendous season for him. Outside the 2021 season, Hunter has played every game in five of his last seven seasons. That's something a team that's dealt with injuries might be happy to see.

The Cons

He is older than most of the edge rushers out there that the Lions might be interested in. Hunter will turn 30 during the 2024 season and that has to worry any team, that might sign him, that he won't be there long term.

What would he cost?

Our on staff cap specialist have projected that Hunter will get a three year, $67 million deal that would give him an annual per year salary of $22.5 million with $49 million of the contract being guaranteed.

Could it happen?

There's a solid chance that it could just based off the history of players sticking within the divsion they were already in. I'm sure the Lions will be interested. But will they be interested at that cost and at that length of the deal knowing that Hunter turns 30 in 2024?

The other thing is the Vikings might try to work out a deal. They were willing to do it before the 2023 season when Hunter held out of part of training camp.
