The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office in Florida has put a warrant out on Detroit Lions cornerback Cameron Sutton. We can confirm at this time that it is indeed the same Sutton that plays for the Lions, as his full name and birthday are both accurately listed on the warrant.
Per the warrant, Sutton is wanted for DV domestic battery by strangulation. The offense took place on March 7 in Tampa, Florida. The Detroit Lions have not given a statement at this time. The HCSO has made multiple attempts to contact Sutton and have not been able to, which is why they released the warrant on Wednesday, per The Detroit News' Justin Rogers. Per Kyle Meinke of Mlive, Sutton fled the scene, has not been home and has turned off or disconnected his phone.
This news comes just days after the Lions fully guaranteed the remaining $1.5 million of Sutton's $10.5 million 2024 base salary. The initial $9 million was fully guaranteed at signing when he signed his three-year, $33 million deal with the Lions in 2023.
Sutton was expected to have a much more productive season with the Lions after a year in which he struggled pretty badly against some of the top receivers in the league. The rebuilt cornerback room was going to take some of that pressure off him.
Update: The Lions have issued a statement.
“We became aware of the ongoing legal situation involving Cam Sutton this morning. We will continue to monitor the situation and will not have further comment at this time.”

It was something that has been expected for a while now and I think that's likely why most mock drafts that you have seen since they've […]
