Tennessee Vols fans are anxiously waiting to find out if sophomore defensive back Boo Carter will be part of the team this fall.
Carter, who is expected to also see time on offense in 2025, has reportedly missed some team functions this summer, which has put his spot on the roster in limbo.
The feeling is that Tennessee's leadership council will need to be okay with Carter remaining on the roster before head coach Josh Heupel welcomes the Chattanooga native back.
Vols insider Tony Basilio noted on Monday that Carter will likely need to "earn" his way back onto the roster (if Carter decides he wants to stick around).
"If he reports to that meeting tonight (UT is supposed to have a pre-fall camp team meeting on Monday evening), he's going to be in a different reality, I can tell you that," said Basilio. "I'm hearing they're going to make this kid earn his way back onto that team, if that's what he wants to do. In other words, he's going to lose some privileges here on the front end (of fall camp)."
Heupel is scheduled to speak to the media on Tuesday. Vols fans should get full clarity on Carter's status with the program at that time.
