One of the worst-kept secrets this offseason was the Indianapolis Colts’ desperate need to upgrade their TE position.
This led them to select Tyler Warren out of Penn State with the 14th pick in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft. He is already off to a fast start, having been a standout player during the team’s opening two weeks of training camp. Friday’s practice, he took it to a new level by hauling in a highlight reel catch that Nate Atkins of the Indy Star drew a comparison to Odell Beckham Jr.’s infamous catch.

It shows Beckham Jr. altering his body to not only make a one-handed catch but also to do so while finding a way to remain in bounds on the sideline. Warren’s play came off a throw from Daniel Jones, and I do see some similarities to the OBJ catch. Jones’ throw was off-target as he fired it way high and typically would have been out of reach. Not for Warren, though, as he reached up with one arm fully extended and tapped the ball back to himself and altered his body to complete the catch on the way to the ground. Plays like this are precisely why the Colts and many teams around the league viewed Warren as a first-round talent. The team has needed a security blanket at the TE position, and the early signs in training camp suggest they’ve found it.
