Could the Tennessee Titans be interested in trading for Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin?
McLaurin, a two-time Pro Bowler, has reportedly requested a trade amid a contract dispute with the Commanders. The former Ohio State Buckeyes standout is hoping for a lucrative contract extension.
Titans head coach Brian Callahan was asked Friday if his team is interested in trading for McLaurin.
“Those conversations are always ongoing for players from all over the league,” said Callahan. “[I’m] certainly not commenting on anybody who’s not on our roster. We look into everything. They’re (front office) constantly working through — I mean, they probably watched that preseason game last night six times trying to see what players are on those two teams that could be available.
“So it’s part of the process this time of year, and we communicate all the time about our players, about practice that day, about potential waiver claims as they start to come up — all those things are ongoing conversations. And we got a great rapport between Mike (Borgonzik) and I and Chad (Brinker) and (Dave) Ziegler. We do a really good job, I think, from that standpoint of communicating where we might have some needs still, and where we still need to improve our roster and whether things are improving.”
Ziegler, who serves as the Titans’ assistant general manager, worked alongside Commanders general manager Adam Peters for three seasons in the Denver Broncos’ scouting department. Additionally, Callahan was an offensive assistant for the Broncos during that same time frame.
Calvin Ridley and Tyler Lockett are currently the Titans’ top two options at wide receiver. Tennessee is also high on rookies Elic Ayomanor and Chimere Dike.
McLaurin, though, is a game-changer. He’s gone over 1,000 receiving yards in five straight seasons, and he hasn’t missed a game since the 2020 season when he missed one contest due to a high ankle sprain.
ESPN’s John Keim, however, reported this week that multiple sources don’t expect Washington to trade McLaurin.
“Team sources have said multiple times that the Commanders won’t trade McLaurin,” wrote Keim. “It’s uncertain what interest he will draw from teams, knowing they would have to surrender a package that tempts the Commanders and then pay him more than $30 million per year.”
It would be a surprise to see McLaurin traded — especially since Washington will likely want a rich trade package in return. But we’ve been surprised by late summer trades before, so we’ll see if McLaurin is ultimately moved ahead of the 2025 season.

‘I will kick your ass for the next 15 years’ – Peyton Manning once gave an NFL GM a legendary warning
Tennessee Vols legend Peyton Manning was a bit miffed after he traveled to New York in 1997 just to finish as the runner-up to Michigan’s Charles Woodson for the Heisman Trophy. It wasn’t that Peyton thought Woodson was undeserving of the award — it was that dealing with the cameras and the media, only to […]
