As superstar defensive end Micah Parsons battles the Dallas Cowboys amid a messy contract negotiation that has led to a formal trade request, current and former players are showing support for No. 11.
That includes former wide receiver Dez Bryant, who remains very opinionated about the Cowboys, especially when it comes to off-the-field situations like this one. On Friday, following Parsons’ statement on social media revealing he had requested to be traded and that he no longer wants to play for the Cowboys, Bryant posted a video addressing the 26-year-old star.
“Hey Micah, what you’re doing, the message that you’re sending, the business that you’re standing on, it’s extremely major, brother,” Bryant said. “Guys like myself, guys that came before you, we failed. We failed to manage it, in standing our ground due to the lack of knowledge, and the lack of support entering a world that we were very unfamiliar with.”
Bryant, a three-time Pro Bowler and All-Pro franchise legend, was well known for his open criticism of the franchise during his playing days.
“Do I want to see you with the Star in your helmet? Yes, I do,” Bryant added. “I pray that Jerry (Jones) does what’s right, pays you what you deserve. You’re an incredible talent.”
Current players also show their support for Parsons through social media
Parsons is not only receiving support from players of the past but from teammates, as well. Most notably, CeeDee Lamb posted on X: “Never fails dawg. Just pay the man what you em.”
DeMarvion Overshown, Trevon Diggs, and Juanyeh Thomas all changed their profile pictures to photos of Micah Parsons. Before Parsons’ trade request, quarterback Dak Prescott admitted he agreed with his teammate’s decision not to practice at training camp.
For now, Parsons is expected to remain at Oxnard, California, and it shouldn’t be a surprise if the whole thing doesn’t end with the two sides returning to the negotiating table.
