Shedeur Sanders’ first pass of the preseason game against the Carolina Panthers was a drop by Diontae Johnson. After that moment, the Cleveland Browns rookie began to settle in and delivered a strong first half against Carolina.

Sanders went 11-for-18 for 103 yards and two passing touchdowns in the first half. He also added four runs for 19 yards and evaded pressure multiple times to help the Browns to a 14-7 halftime lead over Carolina.

Both of Sanders’ first-half touchdowns were highlight-reel connections to WR Kaden Davis, who is fighting for a roster spot in Cleveland — and certainly helped his case against Carolina.

LeBron James reacts to Shedeur Sanders’ performance against the Panthers

James, a known Browns fan, couldn’t help but react to what the rookie was doing after his second touchdown pass to Davis.

“That young [king] looking good out there! @ShedeurSanders Keep going UP!!! HEAD down on the grind and HEAD high to the most high,” James posted on X.

Sanders has ignited the Browns fanbase in a preseason game and will undoubtedly be a talking point on sports shows next week after his first-half performance. It’s worth noting that the Panthers played their starters for a couple of drives, while the Browns rested nearly all of theirs.

The Colorado rookie’s NFL career is off to a strong start through one half of preseason football — and he’s already caught the attention of the NBA’s all-time leading scorer.
