Bills superstar has unforgettable reaction after learning about Cook’s new contract with life-changing news of his own
A classy move from the Bills superstar.
Buffalo Bills superstar Christian Benford was speaking to the media after practice on Wednesday when he learned the exact details of running back James Cook’s contract. His response was nothing short of incredible. By the end, the cornerback talked about one of his own life victories: The 47 Hearts Foundation.
With a huge smile, Benford talked about Cook’s deal.
“That’s fire, congrats, big dawg. Yessir,” Benford said. “I’m proud and happy for him. He stuck it out. I thank the Lord he got something that he’s happy with. I’m blessed and honored for him. He’s a great kid, hard worker. No bad intentions ever in life, always has good intentions. Great man, great man of God. I’m happy for him.”
It was the first time that Benford learned about the specifics of Cook’s contract. James signed a four-year contract extension this morning, reportedly $48 million, $30 million guaranteed.
Before he gave his viral response, the talented corner opened up on his personal life, even shooting a mini-promo. “I’m going to be honest, I don’t really like being on social media like that. Unless it’s for my non-profit, 47 Hearts Foundation.”
47 Hearts Foundation and what it does
On Aug. 5, Benford posted on his personal Instagram the announcement about 47 Hearts Foundation’s inception. “We’re officially here! 47 Hearts Foundation is dedicated to uplift vulnerable individuals and families nationwide, addressing homelessness, foster care support, food insecurity, and youth development.”
Benford is putting others first and using his platform for good. His few-second shoutout deserves far more recognition for what he’s building with his foundation. While the application is pending, his website offers to “Make a Difference with Christian,” which goes further into what he hopes to provide to the world. Specifically, the 47 Hearts Foundation aims to reach those in desperate need through hands-on programs and strategic partnerships.
He isn’t only talking the talk, he’s walking the walk and looking to make an impact much bigger than anything on the football field. With the foundation’s goals and objectives, he’s doing all he can to try and make the world a better place and provide some relief for those who are most vulnerable.
On their official website, the goals and objectives moving forward are:
- Goal one: Combat homelessness
- Goal two: Support foster care youth and families
- Goal three: Fight food insecurity
- Goal four: Enrich youth through summer camps and educational programs
- Goal five: Build community engagement and sustainability
Outside of just their foundation, Benford’s foundation also highlights some sustainable development goals:
- No poverty
- Zero hunger
- Good health and well-being
47 Hearts Foundation’s vision is to “create a world where every child and family, regardless of their circumstance, has access to safe shelter, nourishing food, and enriching experiences that inspire hope, stability, and success.”
Christian Benford is beyond elite
Christian’s ascension to one of the best at his position across the NFL is something out of a Hollywood blockbuster movie. Joining the team as a sixth-round pick in the same draft that saw the team select Kaiir Elam in the first round, it looked to be an uphill battle.
Beane, once again, struck gold in the late rounds as Benford quickly earned the starting position after an impressive rookie training camp. While the cornerback is starting to get his flowers across the league, his abilities are still being downplayed, with more than a handful of rankings showing him outside the top-10 at his position. Benford has proven the critics wrong on more than one occasion, and another monster year will make it nearly impossible for others not to notice
Luckily, the Bills’ general manager has already locked in Benford after the two sides agreed to a new four-year contract extension this offseason.
He’s making a difference on and off the field. We can’t wait to see what else he does for the community and team during his time with the Bills. He’s a good one, a great one even, and we’re blessed as fans to get to watch him blossom into a superstar.
